1. Medical Equipment and Supplies
FEDES has secured donations of medical equipment for at least 25 hospitals in eight of the thirteen regions of the country. The total cost of those equipment donations is estimated at least at US $ 25,000,000 (twenty five million dollars).
2. Relief after Heavy Rainstorms
In the heavy rainstorms of 2002 (with record rainfall for the last 50 years according to official statistics), FEDES managed the distribution of food and essentials. Distribution included 150 tons of humanitarian aid provided by the Southern Chapter of the Church of Jesus Christ, with an estimated value of US$ 800,000, not counting the volunteer distribution work. This aid enabled us provide relief for approximately 6,000 families in the Metropolitan Region and other towns located in the Sixth and Eighth Regions.
During the same year, 15 houses with an area of 36 square meters each were produced and assembled for poor families in the city of San Antonio and other towns in the Metropolitan Region. This was a joint effort carried out with the Southern Chapter of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Also during 2002, another 20 houses were produced and shipped to the Tenth Region along with 20 tons of clothing as relief for the end-of-winter rainstorms. These activities were carried out jointly with FOSIS and ONEMI, of the Interior Ministry, and financial contributions by the Southern Chapter of the Church of Jesus Christ.
3. Children with Terminal Diseases
One of the most significant activities we have carried out, due to its deep human content, is the support and encouragement to children with terminal diseases. This support also includes their families. This program is made possible thanks to the sacrificial volunteer work of individuals associated with FEDES Foundation and Family Care Foundation
