Computer IT and Networking program

Computer and technology skills are becoming essential for employment in almost every industry worldwide; therefore, technology empowerment is one of the greatest tools in breaking the cycle of poverty. Since financially disadvantaged families have limited access to computers at home or school, they are unable to develop the skills required in today’s labor environment for gainful employment.
FEDES’ computer and networking courses impart this vital training to students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Whether in either completely computer focused courses, or as additions to the other vocational courses, FEDES assures the students have well rounded skills that are relevant in the modern technology dependant workplace.
These have been some of our most successful courses, with students ranging from young adults seeking employment in the technology sector, to gastronomy students learning to find recipes online and chart kitchen expenses, to senior citizens who come to class and turn on a computer for the first time to make contact with their families overseas.
Among the courses we teach:
• Computer Assembly, Configuration, and Maintenance • Network Installation and Maintenance • Computer Software, including Microsoft Office and other common applications • Communications and Secretarial Skills • Telemarketing
Students also receive job competency and personal development classes, as well as a short internship in a computer or tech company to gain work experience and ease their transition into the labor market. Many of them go on to be hired by the same companies who gave them the internships, or find jobs through FEDES’ employment placement program.
